| I got the photography job ... I start on the 26th ... three days before my birthday ... this new job is the best birthday present ive ever given myself.
I only have to work at the Blackbear Jamboree for three more days. Three isnt that many ... but there are just so many other places I would rather be. It is akward here. I want to pack my things tonight and run away. Im not ruling it out.
My papaw is very sick - he had an MRI and a CAT scan and about five million other tests and they have discovered a massive aneurism with an anuerism on top of it. Its all right in his brain ... so there is really no chance of operation. They could remove it, but say that it would be safer to let him just live with it. He could live with it for years or it could rupture and he would die immediately. Those are the words that came straight from the doctor's mouth and they are resounding in my head like a metal gong. I havent really responded or reacted to all of it yet. I just want to leave here and go to Virginia and spend time with my mamaw and papaw eating hot dogs, playing cards and watching jeaopardy.
Would it be really wrong to pack my things at work and leave three days earlier than I am supposed to? I can do without the money ... and this stupid job just isnt a priority. I dont know how much time I will have to spend with family after I start travelling with the new job. I am just here to do these people a favor I guess. It would be inappropriate for me to leave before I said I would. I hate the word "appropriate" and all that it carries with it. The word "appropriate" is like a snotty bitter old lady ... makes me wrinkle my nose. | | |

over the real weekend mary and enjoyed a late night dip in a secret swimming hole with some oak ridge girls followed up by a treaty trip to the waffle house in the early a.m. We played the juke box and once it was time to leave we were shocked to witness a fight break out between our tatooed waiter and one of the skinniest men i have ever seen in my life. Nervously we waited to pay at the cash register while more and more customers became involved in the violence. Would someone throw a punch? Would someone pull a gun? Shirts came off and fists were balled ... but out of the kitchen came the largest, blackest woman i have ever seen in my life. The deus ex machina of the waffle house. She ordered the trouble makers to "bounce" and they complied. There is something unsettling about a city that breeds a bomb ... | | |

Its funny how quickly this last bit of summer has passed by. Being in a relationship is consuming and I miss connections with friends.
Mary is back from Paris ... yay!

Kelly ... I still have your nalgene tucked safely in my car - i think it still has the same water in it that it had when you left it. Thats gross - Ill wash it before I see you again. Will that be soon?
Shannon, is it true you are back from Maine and we are currently living in the same city? Is it possible to have lunch?
Travis ... where in the world is Matt Lauer, I mean Travis Eisenbise? North Carolina? Greenville? When do your classes start? What did you do all summer?

So ... That apartment that was supposedly oh so perfect turned out to be quite good, but unavailable.
This is news: Im moving to Knoxville ... I am so thrilled that I am going to be out of sevier county. I will be commuting to my job everyday ... that is until i find another one, which i hope will happen very soon. I have some exciting leads. But it means the next few weeks will be the last few weeks I can get in to dollywood, splash country, aquarium, and all the shows for free ... so if youve been itching to see the chinese acrobats or louise mandrell at no cost etc etc you better head this way.
I am so intensely excited about living in a somewhat metropolitan area. My new apartment/house is very spacious ... has hardwood floors and cathedral ceilings and it is located in a very historic area so the homes are old and beautful. It actually reminds me a little bit of my room in carter hall - maybe its the windows. I cant wait to get moved in. Its off of broadway if anyone knows about knoxville and its about a mile from the old city ...

I think Mary and I are going to try to have a big birthday bash in september and all the birthdays that need to be celebrated will be. Everyone is invited! I am thinking: cabin in gatlinburg ... lots of sleeping room, pool table, hot tub, one night ... if everyone pitches in about $10 (or less depending on how many can come) its very affordable.
